FOCUS

I’ve always loved the rain. I find it so calming to be home working on my computer listening to the pitter-patter of the rain. It hasn’t rained where I live in what feels like months. Don’t get me wrong—weeks of sunshine are incredible, but when it rains, it feels like there’s nowhere I would rather be than home.

Two years ago, I lived in Germany for five months. It rained almost everyday that I was there. The gray sky and the sound of the rain hitting the window were great. In fact, I loved being home while it rained.

The problem was leaving the house in the rain, waiting for the tram in the rain, walking to the store in the rain. I quickly began to feel like the rain would never stop! To make matters worse, I was also becoming physically tired- having to sleep 9-10 hours just to feel a little bit of energy.

It’s funny that living in a sunny place, the rain brings me comfort, yet living in a rainy place, the rain brought me discomfort.
