Feminism means different things to different people. The simplest definition is gender equality and/or equity: that people should have the same rights regardless of their gender.
The expression The Feminism Movement refers to ongoing feminist actions or ideologies. However, the term can also signify different iterations of feminism. Feminist platforms can include:
- Voting Rights
- Access to Education
- Access to Healthcare
- Access to Economic Mobility
- Safety (Actions against gender-based violence)
This list is not exhaustive. When considering what feminism means, ask yourself: in which ways are people treated differently? In which ways can a group lack access to rights, services, or opportunities that are easily accessible to other groups? You don’t need to identify with a particular gender to become a feminist.
