Dear Language Snaps,

I’m 50 years old and have no time for myself. I have three beautiful but demanding children, and a wonderful but lazy partner. Tell me, how might I make three meals a day, clean the dishes and the entire house, and go to work? I don’t… it’s not possible. My kids are constantly fighting with one another and I think I might be going crazy. I can’t even finish this letter because it’s time to pick everyone up from school. Oh, and my partner doesn’t bother to help cook or clean. What should I do to take control of my life again?

Thanks,

Tired

Dear Tired,

Dear Tired,

You make us glad we don’t have kids! Anyway, you need to show everyone who’s boss! Tell your partner to help around the nest. Tell your children that the next time they fight, they’ll all be grounded. They might ignore you at first, but you must make them listen come rain or shine! Otherwise they’ll never learn. You also must not forget about yourself. Even if you only have five minutes to yourself, just take a moment to breathe. You will raise amazing children, but to do so, you must be respected in your own home.

Thanks,

Language Snaps
