Dear Language Snaps,

I’m 18 and just started university in a new city where I don’t know anyone. I can’t believe that just three months ago I was in high school with all of my friends. I can’t help thinking about high school- and about the boy I left back home. His name is John and he was smart, funny, and good looking. I know I should move on and forget him, but I’m head over heels for him! What can I do to not feel this way forever? What should I do to forget him?

Thank you in advance,

Hopelesslover

Dear Hopelesslover,

You remind us of our time in University! It’s hard to be away from your family and friends- especially if it’s your first time away from home. It may feel like John’s the only boy in the world but trust me, there’s plenty of fish in the sea. And in bars, nightclubs, coffee shops and just about anywhere singles mingle. Anyway, you’re in a new city surrounded by tons of potential lovers- you should go meet them! The only way to forget him is to replace him. As soon as you replace him, you can forget him.

Best,

Language Snaps
